Overview
The Minimalist Portal is a Chrome extension that simplifies the Naver home page by hiding selected page sections while keeping search and optional account controls available. It does not operate a developer-controlled server and does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information.
Scope and on-device page processing
The extension runs only on https://naver.com/ and https://www.naver.com/ pages covered by its manifest. In your browser, it examines the page structure, service-link destinations, visible service labels, and element dimensions needed to identify and arrange the search and account sections. It then hides or shows elements according to your settings.
This processing happens locally in Chrome. Page content is not copied into extension storage, sent to the developer, or sent to any external server. The extension does not access Naver cookies, passwords, authentication tokens, form entries, search queries, or private communications.
Permissions and site access
- Storage: used only to save the display and language preferences described below.
- Naver home-page access: used only to apply the user-facing layout changes on the two Naver origins declared in the extension manifest. The extension does not request access to all websites.
Preferences stored by the extension
The extension stores only the following settings:
- whether the extension is enabled;
- the selected interface language;
- whether the account section is visible; and
- whether Mail, Cafe, Blog, Pay, and other service items are visible.
These settings are saved with chrome.storage.sync. If Chrome Sync is enabled, Google may synchronize them between Chrome browsers signed in to the same Google account. If sync is disabled, Chrome stores them locally. The developer does not receive or have access to these settings.
Data not collected
The extension does not collect or retain names, email addresses, account identifiers, authentication information, search queries, browsing history, URLs visited outside its declared Naver scope, website content, form data, personal communications, financial information, analytics identifiers, advertising identifiers, crash reports, or usage telemetry.
Network requests and external destinations
The extension code makes no external network requests and includes no analytics, advertising, tracking technologies, remote code, or developer-operated backend service.
The settings page contains optional links to the Chrome Web Store rating page and Buy Me a Coffee. Those websites open only when you select the relevant link. The extension does not attach your saved preferences, Naver page content, or browsing activity to those links. Any information you choose to provide after leaving the extension is handled under the destination service's own privacy terms.
Data sharing, sale, and human access
No user data is transmitted to the developer or shared with third parties by the extension. The developer does not sell user data, use it for advertising or profiling, or permit humans to read Naver page content processed by the extension. Chrome and Google may process synchronized preference data as part of Chrome Sync under the Google Privacy Policy.
Data protection
- All layout processing takes place inside the browser.
- Preferences are kept in Chrome's extension-specific storage rather than a developer database.
- The extension uses packaged local JavaScript and CSS and does not download executable code.
- Its manifest limits site access to the Naver home-page origins needed for its single purpose.
Retention, control, and deletion
Preferences remain in Chrome's extension storage until you change them, clear the extension's stored data, or remove the extension. When Chrome Sync is enabled, retention and deletion across synchronized devices are controlled by Chrome and your Google account settings rather than by the developer. Removing or disabling the extension stops it from modifying Naver pages. Because the developer receives no user data, there is no developer-held personal-data record to retrieve or delete.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose page-customization tool and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.
Limited Use
The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information handled through Chrome APIs is used only to provide the extension's disclosed, user-facing purpose and is not used or transferred for unrelated purposes.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the extension's functionality, data practices, or applicable requirements change. Material changes to data practices will be disclosed before the changed practices take effect. The revision date at the top identifies the current version.
